Leadership Team

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10

Kim Trainer – CEO

Hi, my name is Kim and I am 4 years old and have long brown hair and LOVE long dresses! This one is my favorite because my Aunt Helen gave this to me as a gift during a big birthday party my mama and daddy gave to me when I turned “4” years old. I think this dress is the Most Beautiful thing I have ever seen and I wear it all the time- It was a sad day when I grew out of it.

When I grow up I want to be a mommy and have lots of children- my Aunt Margret and Uncle Tom have 4 children and they are the “funnest” house I know- I want to be like them when I grow up! My cousins are so fun! We play all day in the backyard making huts and going on adventures. And…I LOVE my baby dolls and Barbies. I have quite the imagination of playing and creating a life in Barbie World- I can play for hours and have so much fun!

I am the  happy mother of five children, four of which are in college/graduated and one child still at home. One married with twin grandboys!  I have been married to Tony for 30 years. During this next season of life, the critical need to stand up and advocate for children who cannot stand for themselves is more dire than ever before in history. And so, my life’s calling continues…

If it had not been for 2 little girls who were being sex trafficked in Rock Hill, SC by their mother, I would have continued to grieve, and yet look the other way, always asking “What could I really do?”. When I heard about these children, I committed that day to never be on the side of “doing nothing” ever again!

Since then, I have tirelessly worked to build this ministry to Ignite churches, communities and volunteers to do more….  Though there are countless ways to serve this community, I wholeheartedly believe that the winning combination is establishing Care Communities in churches.

When a family is called to foster or adopt, they bring more than just a good will, they bring with them two words that have changed societies for centuries- Jesus and a loving Family. We are better together and TOGETHER we will see change made.

Susie Boyle – Director of Outreach and Partnerships

My name is Susie and I am ten years old.  Two of my favorite things are soccer and babies!!  My parents just signed me up for soccer this year because my brother wanted to play and I am so excited.  If I am not playing sports in the neighborhood, I am going down back to see if anyone needs any help taking care of their babies.  Sometimes my neighbors will even trust me to push their kids in their strollers around the block.  I love when they let me do that.  My Mom wishes I would help more at home, but I like being at other people’s houses better.

My parents went away to the Mountains recently and bought me a new shirt, it says, “Anything boys can do, girls can do better”.  It makes my brothers mad when I wear it, so I do it a lot.  I’m not sure what I will do when I grow up, but my parents say I can do whatever I set my mind to!

I am passionate about working with the least of these and have been since my heart was touched and forever changed by fostering a sweet little girl in 2005 in Michigan.

Realizing this child didn’t have an adult voice in court, I felt called to be the voice of children in Foster Care when I moved to South Carolina. I have now been a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem for over ten years.  It is through this role that the foster crisis became so evident and being the voice for children who have no voice has absolutely become my life calling.

I have been married for 27 years to my college sweetheart Dennis, have two amazing biological children Shayne and Avery and one beautiful bonus child named Kennedy. I also dwell with two awesome dogs and a rabbit named Ollie. In my spare time, I can be found playing soccer, working out at Burn Boot Camp or riding my paddleboard.

Hannah Mayhorn – Administrator

Hi, my name is Hannah and I’m nine years old.

My favorite thing is to swing on my swingset and play in the sandbox or dirt. When I’m swinging, I wish I could fly into the air and go to Heaven because it would be so amazing to spend time with God in person, even for just a few hours. My favorite book of the Bible is Revelation.

I have a novel series planned out in my mind and I’m working on writing them down on paper so I can get them published when I grow up. I’m making illustrations in colored pencil, oil pastel, and acrylic paint for them, too. I love to imagine I’m inside an adventurous make believe story, especially when I’m outside playing or taking walks with my family. My favorite word is “nonchalant”.

I have a loft bed and my very own fort underneath with a blanket doorway. I keep all my most precious belongings in a secret box under my art desk there, so no one can find them.

My sisters are my very best friends. I love them with all my heart.

Hannah Mayhorn – Administrator

Hello, I’m Hannah! I first became involved with Fostering the Family when they visited my home church in 2019. My husband, Jonathan, and I felt a tug on our hearts to foster, so we decided to get involved however we could until we were in a place where we could open our home to foster children. Jonathan and I joined our church’s Care Community as family helpers and served for two years.

We both have adopted siblings and always knew we wanted adoption to be one of the avenues through which we grew our family. Later on, Jonathan and I found out we could not have biological children. After taking time to process this difficult news, we now feel like it’s a blessing more than anything, because our home will remain open for any children who may need us. We’re excited to see where God directs us with foster care and adoption in the future.

I’m honored to be part of the Fostering the Family team. I have a background in content writing, website design, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), email marketing, social media management, customer relations, and CRM platforms. I look forward to benefitting Fostering the Family with that experience however I’m able.

In our free time, Jonathan and I love to practice and record music together, walk and picnic outdoors, and spend time with family and friends. We’re active members at our church, Founded in Truth Fellowship, and volunteer to serve on the worship team and co-lead the young adults group. Our faith is an extremely important part of our life!
